Marara (Myra)

Marara, also known as Aunty Mara was named after Remana’s mother.

Marara was fluent in Te Reo Māori and a mentor to her brothers and sisters. She was also well known in the Oromahoe community for helping local Māori.

Myra married Edward (Edgar) Isaac Dawson and they had five children.

Waiata
A couple of waiata written for and by Kiwikiwi whanau includes a 2009 waiata by Huia Armstrong and Troy Kingi, aptly named, Te Whanau Kiwikiwi. A second waiata of relevance is by Piripi Cope, of our Cope line, called Ngā Puawai Ō Ngāpuhi.
